Excitement in the university pool scene reaches fever pitch in anticipation of the forthcoming BUCS-UPC Eight-ball Championships to be held at Vauxhall Holiday Park in Great Yarmouth from 23rd to 26th February 2012. With more than 460 students entering, the level of competition on the 36 tournament standard Supreme pool tables is expected to be fierce.

They will have a full range of pool/snooker cues and accessories for sale, with experienced technicians on hand to offer a number of cue maintenance services on-site, including a re-tipping service. Speed Pool/14.1
The ever-popular Speed Pool Team Relay competition, organised by the UPC, will again be taking place this year, however please note this is now taking place on the Friday evening. Subject to tables being available, the 8ballstore.com staff may also be running a Solo Speed Pool and/or 14.1 table near to their stall on the Saturday evening. Here, you will be able to trial your cues and also possibly compete for prizes! Listen out during the event for announcements relating to this. You can see some of the action from previous years' events, here.
Flyers / Practice Tables
At close of official tournament play each evening, some tables in the main hall (Regency Room) will be set aside for organised flyer competitions for those interested – please listen out for announcements during the day about how to register for these, which will be organised by the 8ballstore.com staff and not the UPC. All remaining tables will be available for (paid) open practice, as will the games room throughout the event.
Cuesport TV
The leading online pool broadcaster, Cuesport TV, has attended all our events in Great Yarmouth and will do so again this year. As veterans of the competition will already know, they frequently request "guest commentators" from the audience to talk viewers through the games on the TV tables – listen out for announcements during the event on how to register your interest! Please note, only those not playing in scheduled matches at the given times will be permitted to commentate. You can see some of the coverage from previous years, here.
Pool Coaching
As part of our coaching initiative, Steve Daking (UPC Head Coach and World Trickshot Champion) will be running free coaching sessions during the weekend, using the practice tables in the Games Room. This will take the form of open, "drop-in" sessions, entitled "Practice Routines", "Strategy & Tactics" and "How to become a qualified coach" interspersed with fun tutorials.
