It’s another record breaking year for the BUCS-UPC Eight-ball Pool Championships as Vauxhall Holiday Park prepares to welcome a total of 672 competitors from 25th to 28th February 2016. With 138 teams from 56 institutions playing across the men’s and women’s team and individual tournaments, the level of competition on the 56 tournament standard pool tables is expected to be fierce.

Captains’ / Players’ Briefing – 12:00, Thursday 25th February, 2016
There will be a captains/players briefing at 12:00 in the V-Lounge (adjacent to Regency Room) on Thursday, before any play starts. All captains of teams must attend, as well as any players not in a team (individuals only). This replaces all the briefings that usually take place on Friday.

We are pleased to announce some exciting initiatives and services taking place at this week’s BUCS-UPC Eight-ball Pool Championships event in Great Yarmouth:
Flyers / Practice Tables
At close of official tournament play each evening, and if time permits, some tables in the main hall (Regency Room) will be set aside for organised flyer competitions for those interested – please listen out for announcements during the day about how to register for these, which will be organised by the support staff and not the UPC. All remaining tables will be available for (paid) open practice, as will the games room throughout the event.
Speed Pool
This year, the ever-popular Speed Pool Team Relay will be staged after close of play on Saturday 27th February 2015. Involving heats of upto four teams, racing against each other to clear five tables as quickly as they can, this fun side-event often features some amazing pool, as well as some not so amazing pool, and always brings with it a bucketful of sweat amid the Saturday night drama!

Selected matches will be streamed live on the internet on our official UPC YouTube channel and recordings of all featured matches will be available for re-watch at a later date, courtesy of Joe Redhead. Pool Shop
We are pleased to announce that Sanctuary Cues, run by Aggie Bailie, will have a pool shop at the event this year. Aggie will offer the usual pool shop equipment and suplies, as well as re-tipping (using a mini-lathe), re-ferrules, and cue MOTs, so if you want to sort out your cue once and for all, giving yourself absolutely no excuse for failure – here’s your chance!
Student Home Internationals – Nominations
If you feel you have performed well at the BUCS-UPC Eight-ball Pool Championships, and wish to be considered for your national team, please submit a nomination form for the Student Eight-ball Pool Home Internationals (including BUCS Home Nations).
