We are pleased to release the entry information for this season’s BUCS-UPC Nine-ball Pool Championships to be staged across both Rileys Birmingham and Rileys Solihull. We are also incredibly pleased that this long running event is now BUCS sanctioned and as such teams progressing to the latter stages will now receive BUCS points.
BUCS-UPC Nine-ball Pool Championships
Individual Championship: 1-3 December 2016
Team Championship: 2-4 December 2016
Venue: Rileys Birmingham and Rileys Solihull
Closing date for entries: Thursday 17 November, 2016*
Teams are made up of a maximum four players, three of which play in a match.
*If after the above stated entry deadline (Stage 1) has passed, the competition allows for more entries to be accepted, Stage 2 will be opened, the deadline for which will be 7 days after that for Stage 1. The decision to open Stage 2 will be agreed by BUCS and UPC. Those entering Stage 2 will pay the entry fee plus 20%.
BUCS Accreditation: We are delighted to announce that this event now has BUCS accreditation.
Change of date and venues: Please note that the dates of 1st – 4th December 2016 and the venues of Rileys Birmingham and Rileys Solihull are not those initially published. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
There is no accommodation package for this event. Students are free to source their own accommodation (or to not book any accommodation at all, should they feel they live locally enough to “commute”)
Event Size: The maximum number we can accept is 64 teams
Preference will be given to first teams, then second teams, etc then to teams highest in the competition rankings. For example, if 80 entries are received comprised of 40 first teams, 20 second teams, 12 third teams and 8 fourth teams then all of the first teams, all of the second teams and the four highest-ranked third teams would be accepted (with the fifth-highest ranked third team being first reserve, the sixth-highest ranked third team being second reserve, etc). If (and only if) Stage 2 entries are opened (i.e. because less than 64 teams entered at Stage 1) then the remaining spaces will be allocated on a strictly first-come, first-served basis.
Venue Allocations: Some players might be lucky in so much as playing all of their matches in one venue for the whole event, but scheduling will be done such that nobody has to change venue more than once on the Friday and once on the Saturday (nobody at all will have to change venues on the Thursday or the Sunday) and where venue changes are necessary these will be coordinated so that all of those changing venue do so at the same time and a minimum of one hour will be allowed for the “commute”.
